Former liberal dissident during the mo in Victoria, Viktor Orban became known when pronounced, in the late ' 80, tirades against the regime, in Heroes ' square in Budapest. Orban belonged to the Group of 37 students and intellectuals who in 1988 founded Fidesz, having assumed the Presidency of the party in 1993.

Lawyer and father of five children, Orban was Prime Minister between 1998 and 2002.

Since the electoral victory of 2010, the Fidesz has elected as its main slogan of governance download energy costs and revenues from home. Thanks to descent, twice the price of energy and heating, for a total of 20%, the ruling party might say who cares about the "Hungarian households ' living conditions", at the same time that demonstrated determination vis-à-vis Western foreign companies that dominate the energy market in Hungary. Banks have been forced to account for credits in foreign currency according to the calculation more customer friendly.

Economic improvements are visible and the Standard Poor's & Agency has decided to increase the rating of Hungary, predicting that the positive trend will continue and that this year the Hungarian economy has a growth of 1.7%, while other institutions point to 2%.

Among the successes of Budapest, it is necessary to tell the descent of budgetary deficit. In the chapter of the State debt reduction, no hits registering because continues to be above 78% of GDP.

In the field of social policy, the Conservatives managed to present positive results. The application of tax privileges for large families, today practically exempt from income tax for families with three children or more.

For the first time in Europe, the Fidesz Government occupied himself to seek sensible and constructive solutions to problems involving Roma communities, promoting education, fighting unemployment and social assistance dependent on positive collaboration of the beneficiaries.

When he had to apply austerity cuts, Orban's Government imposed to large foreign companies a tax "solidarity", with which he won the sympathy of the Hungarians. In the same vein, Orban stressed whenever leads an independent policy, proclaiming that "Hungary is not a colony". Aware of this, did not fail to seek to attract foreign investment.

The conservative Fidesz party of Viktor Orban won the lawmaking with 48%, according to early projections. Orban renews his mandate, according to this first post-election poll, conducted by telephone by the Institute "Nezöpont".

According to these projections, the block of left-wing coalition, led by the Socialists and composed of five parties, got 27 percent of the vote, followed by the extremist party Jobbik, which snatched 18%, and the ecologist party with 6%.

Orban may well thank this electoral success for the opposition. Its leaders have committed in recent months a series of errors, to the point where a renowned Hungarian political analyst, Gábor Török, have said that this case should be taught courses in political science as a prime example of lack of political skill. Once, during a year, have discussed who should belong to the Coalition leadership, when finally agreed, the only slogan that managed to pass in terms of governance programme was "Out with Orban!". This, while in the electoral lists of the left was all the panoply of political figures known for their connections with the previous regime and already once rejected at the polls by voters Hungarians, in 2010. As if not enough these shots on the feet, the Fidesz also revealed cases of corruption of some politicians on the left.

It is also, in part, on the left, which should support growth achieved in recent years by the extremist party Jobbik. A significant group of voters decided to vote for the left's traditional extremists, not because I agree with these ideas, but to demonstrate a protest against the left.

The result obtained in these elections by Jobbik, gives you, however, according to the early projections, a position something below that which some analysts announced in recent months. The Jobbik has improved, it is true, the result of 2010, but he probably couldn't approach the 20% that seemed promised. The young leader Gabor Vona will be required to conform to a corner of very limited influence.

The Hungary was a vote this Sunday to elect members who will assume the 199 parliamentary mandates. The victory of the conservative party Fidesz â€" Hungarian Civic Alliance, Viktor Orban, never had reason to fear a defeat. Orban has, quite simply, opponent in Hungary, Fidesz was not so with the loser. The results of these elections are easy to predict, will give the victory of Fides â€" the question is what will be the scale of this victory. A situation which is due also to the errors of the opposition.

Today's results will show whether the party of Orban or not get the constitutional majority one more time or if you're going to have to settle for an ordinary majority.

This time, the results will be known â€" changing the electoral system applied to the second round, reduced to half the number of Deputies (of 386 to 199) and simplified one of the most complicated electoral systems in Europe.

Political opponents of the Fides contend that the amendment has led to a system that gives even more space to party winner. But the response by Fides to this criticism is that, sooner or later, others will be equally benefited. And the truth is, no one accuses him of lack of democracy to Great Britain, where the electoral system is extremely disproportionate.

Changing the electoral system is only a small part of the changes implemented by Orban during the past four years, performing what he called, in 2010, "revolution in the voting booth." Were changed in Hungary approximately 700 decrees and laws, since the Constitution and civil code, the law governing the media. In the eyes of the opposition and of most international observers, this was a ruthless state appropriation process through the use of the constitutional majority in Parliament. For supporters of the Fides was to recover the balance of influences after years of dominance of the left and Liberals. And it is true that were not exceeded the limits of democracy and civil liberties.

Although modified several times, the Hungarian Constitution dates from 1949 and the old influences from the ' 80-90 remained in all institutions, since the courts, the media and the economy. The Fidesz broke this domain. And, of course, to strengthen his position.

Symbol of this consolidation, was, for example, the appointment to important positions of decision, Fidesz's confidence figures, for nine-year terms â€" or up to twelve years, as was the case with the head of the Court of Auditors and of the judges of the Constitutional Court. The legislative amendments, even those as fundamental as those of the Constitution, were carried out in haste and without the pains of the consult with the other partisan forces.

Was cemented as a political system in which all the brakes have been weakened the Executive â€" ceased to exist an upper House of the Parliament, a weakened President is chosen by a Parliament which has a single Chamber, so by the ruling party, and all organs theoretically designed as independents in a democratic system, since the Constitutional Court to the Central Bankthe directions of public media, were placed under the influence of the Fidesz.

The controversial leader of Fidesz changed largely to Hungary during the past four years, after having achieved, in 2010, a victory with 52.7% of votes, which secured a two-thirds majority in Parliament.

During the election campaign, this charismatic politician of 50 years has benefited the fragilities, divisions and weak capacity to articulate a consistent alternative program, the main force of the left opposition, the Alliance for a change of Government, which includes five centre-left formations, a coalition dominated by the Socialist Party (MSZP, Communist ex-Partido).
