Ukraine: pró-russos gain ground

The term granted by the Acting President of Ukraine, Alexandr Turchínov, so that pró-russos citizens lay down their arms and abandon the public buildings that occupy ended this Monday morning and since then there has been no significant change in the situation.

At the same time as the period ended, in Gorlovka, pró-russos separatists, many of them armed, took over government buildings and demanded more autonomy from Kiev.

Identical actions of pro-Russian militias were recorded in Zhdanovska.

The biggest affront to the Kiev Government comes from the self-proclaimed Republic of Donetsk.

In Slaviansk, where he fears a Ukrainian forces military intervention, the Government buildings are still under occupation.

An identical situation in Kramatorsk where the premises of the police and local administration were occupied on Sunday.

The same happens in various locations of the russófonas provinces, where, just a few kilometres from the border remain stationed thousands of Russian soldiers, according to NATO.

On Thursday, Russia, Ukraine, the European Union and United States will sit down at the negotiating table in Geneva to discuss the situation in the country.
