Putin: ceasefire of 7 days is not enough to get solution for Ukraine

Vladimir Putin says that the seven-day truce in Eastern Ukraine is not enough to negotiate a solution to the conflict and that it is necessary a substantial dialogue.

The Russian President's statement was made after a meeting with Austrian counterpart Heinz Fischer in Vienna.

Putin: "Ukrainian President proposed a cease-fire and was ready for the peace process. In my opinion, what has been done so far is not enough to emerge from the crisis. Simply say: ' Stop the military actions during 7 days and the ones that don't disarm will be annihilated ', is not the path to peace. "

Fischer: "we ask there is no supply of guns to people who want to achieve their goals through force. But Kiev also needs to do its part and contribute to the solution. "

The two heads of State also discussed the signing of the agreement between the Russian Gazprom and Austrian OMV for the construction of a section of the South Stream pipeline in Austria. Fischer defended the project, despite the objections of the European Union, which says that Gazprom does not respect Community legislation in terms of competition.

Outside, a small group of demonstrators protested against Putin's visit, denouncing the Kremlin interference in Ukraine.
