Informal truce in Gaza

The environment in Gaza was, this morning, of apparent tranquility. Hamas initially refused to extend the temporary cease-fire backtracked. Israel focuses, now, in destroying tunnels, but promises to react immediately to any aggression.

For sure, nobody knows how long can this informal truce that occurs after the u.s. President have insisted on the need for an immediate and lasting ceasefire during a telephone conversation with the head of the Israeli Government. Barack Obama recognizes that the Hebrew State has the right to defend themselves against the attacks of Hamas, in the same way that the Palestinians have the right to live a normal life.

The informal ceasefire occurs a few days after 15 people were killed in a United Nations school in Gaza. The Israeli army confirmed to have fired a mortar against the u.n. shelter.
