USA: "very unlikely" rescue operation on Mount Sinjar

The spokesman for the u.s. Department of Defense said that it has been found that "there are far fewer Yazidi Kurds on Mount Sinjar than those who were waiting, and they're in better shape than previously thought, thanks to access to water and food they provide".

Thousands of refugees yazidi, an ethnic Kurdish religious community, are stranded on Mount Sinjar, surrounded by Sunni extremists of the Islamic State, which control large parts of northern Iraq and Eastern Syria.

A few hundred who managed to escape, arrived Wednesday at the refugee camp of Zakho, in Iraqi Kurdistan, after walking 12:0 without water or food.
