Clashes make retreat President of Burkina-Faso

This project was at the base of the clashes. If it were approved, it would allow the President Blaise Compaoré for another mandate. Compaore is in power for 26 years.

This was announced on television (though without image, since the State station had been vandalized), but only very hardly managed to contain the anger of the population, which wants the end of Compaore.

This Wednesday was a particularly violent day. Prior to surround the Presidential Palace, the protesters took over the Parliament and sacked the headquarters of State television.

The clashes Center in the capital, Ouagadougou, but extended to the country's second city, Bobo Dioulasso, where the City Hall and the headquarters of the governing party were set on fire.

After he took power by coup d ' état in 1987, Compaore was elected four times. The current Constitution sets a limit of two presidential terms.
