Tunisia grappling with security issues on the eve of the legislative

This Thursday, a police officer lost his life and another was injured during a shootout with radical Islamists in the locality of Oued Ellil, West of the capital.

The exchange of fire began after security forces surround a house where suspected terrorists were preparing attacks to destabilisar the elections.

The authorities have been alerted to the suspicious activity after the arrest of two other alleged terrorists in Kebili, in the South of the country, in an incident in which a security guard was killed.

The Tunisian Government ordered the closure of several border crossings with Libya in a preventive manner until the end of the ballot for fear of entry into the country of individuals likely to commit terrorist acts.
