November 11, 1918 Armistice

The great war, as it was known at the time, was a direct consequence of the assassination in Sarajevo of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the austro-Hungarian throne. The trigger that led the Empire to declare war on the Kingdom of Serbia and triggering a gear of alliances. The parties organized themselves in two opposing alliances: the allies, based on the triple Entente between United Kingdom, France and the Russian Empire and the central powers, originally triple alliance between Germany, Austria-Hungary and Italy; in a reorganization of the Alliances Italy put himself on the side of the Allies. The Armistice officially came into force at 11:0-the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month of 1918.
