South Korea: ship captain whose shipwreck cost 304 lives sentenced to 36 years in prison

The sentence was dictated a few hours after the authorities announce the end of the search for the bodies of the nine passengers from Sewol who continue reported missing, despite protests from relatives.

The other 14 crew members who also sat in the dock, the Chief Engineer received 30 years in prison for not seeing two colleagues injured during the tragedy â€" in what was considered a manslaughter-, the first officer to spend 20 years in jail and the second officer saw assigned 15 years in prison. The rest received sentences 5 to 10 years.
