One of ours from the first World War: ceremony in Paris

French President Francois Hollande began ceremonies in tribute to the dead of World War I, this morning in Paris.

The French President went up the Avenue des Champs-Élysées, reviewed the troops passed, rekindled the flame in front of the tomb of the unknown soldier under the Arc de Triomphe and laid flowers at the site, as provided for in the Protocol.

However, 70 protesters were arrested for seized the occasion to boo the President because of the economic policy of the Socialist Government, and against the tax increases.

With the death of the last combatants of the First World War, France went on to celebrate the Armistice honoring soldiers killed in the country in the current year. This year, families of soldiers killed in Mali received the solemn observance of the head of State. Also at Ypres, in Belgium, if organized an emotional tribute on this anniversary.

Today's celebrations are the highlight at the opening of the ring of memory in the Pas de Calais region.
