Austria: Accused of belonging to the Islamic State pleaded innocent

The prosecution alleges that Magomed Z, a Russian national, was trained in Syria between July and December of 2013, starting to fight for that organization to which sent 800 dollars.

"I will do my best so that everything is done without involving emotions, without demonising someone or something and without any exaggeration," said the defense lawyer, Wolfgang Blaschitz.

If found guilty, the accused incurs a penalty up to 10 years in prison.

The defense claims that the Islamic State was formed at the beginning of 2014, so his client could not be fighting by the Organization in 2013.

The Islamic State, in its current form, has existed since June 2014 but the organization that preceded it, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, was established in April 2013.
