Tragedy of illegal immigrants in the Mediterranean

Several immigrants with severe burns were rescued by the Italian coastguard, near the island of Lampedusa on Thursday. A inflatable boat found the 33 miles north of the coast of Tripoli, in Libya, traveling 69 immigrants. 15 people had second-and third-degree burns.

According to Barbara Molinario, of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Italy, the injury worsened because dealers did not allow these people using the medical aid.

Some of the burn victims may not survive, according to medical officials in Lampedusa.

However, on Friday afternoon, the Palermo Coast Guard coordinated the evacuation of a three-month-old baby of somali origin, who was seriously ill on board a ship flying the flag of Malta in which traveled 92 immigrants.

In the last five days, arrived in Italy more than 10 thousand illegals. Since the beginning of the year landed in the country 27.9 thousand illegal immigrants.
