Tobacco will kill 2 million Chinese in 2030

The investigation is based on the current numbers and the trend noted. In 2010, China will have died a million people (840,000 men and 130,000 women). Smoking is the cause of death of about 20 percent of all adult men in China during this decade. The trend is that the numbers will continue to increase in China and that in 2050, happen 3 million deaths in China from smoking.

China is the largest producer and consumer of cigarettes in the world. The Chinese account for about a third of all tobacco consumed on the planet. The monopoly on tobacco industry belongs to the Government and represents 7 percent of revenue in the country.
