Euronews on Syria: Latakia, the aftermath

In Syria, Latakia mourns the victims of this bombing that killed and wounded dozens of people in the city centre. This coastal province authorities believe the bombing was a retaliation by the recent successes of the Syrian army.

This attack on one of the bastions of the forces loyal to Bashar el-Assad is one of the biggest against Government forces since the civil war began. Latakia is also where lies the airbase used by Russian forces to the bombing on positions of the Group Islamic State.

For the Governor, Ibrahim Khodr Al-Salem, no matter the name of the group behind the attack: "we don't care what you call them, for we are all terrorists. Syria released television pictures of the progress of the pró-governamental army in a region South of Aleppo.
