"How many people in the United Kingdom, I am, of course, very dececionado with the result of the referendum," said Hill, who confessed that I wish things had passed otherwise.

"I came to Brussels as someone who campaigned against adopting the euro in the United Kingdom and someone who was really critical of the European Union," explained Hill in farewell letter.

But Hill says he changed his mind about a lot of things in the EU concerns. "I'm leaving satisfied that, despite our frustrations, our presence was beneficial to our positioning in the world and for our economy."
