Obama authorizes the appointment of Janet Yellen to head of Edf

Barack Obama officially announced the appointment of Janet Yellen to the leadership of the Federal Reserve of the United States.

The US President's choice to succeed Ben Bernanke was known already in the night and hailed by the International Monetary Fund.

Appointing Yellen â€" which will be the first woman to head the u.s. central bank, in its 100-year history â€" need, however, to be confirmed by the Senate.
