Israel: Orthodox Jews are fighting against military service

In Jerusalem, the police used water cannons to disperse the demonstrators.

The claim of the ultra-Orthodox is hard to hear for the soldiers of the fatal Israeli naval RAID. A military answer annoyed two weeks ago that hasn't seen his son for four months and that the Orthodox have that going in the army like the others.

In 2013, the Government presented a proposal that puts an end to the legislation that allowed the young ultra-Orthodox who study in Talmudic schools escape military service.

The diploma is in Committee next Monday, before the two readings in Parliament, in March.

If approved, enters into force in four years.

In Israel, military service is mandatory: three years for men; two years for women.
